*Khitma Halaqa Notes Day 14*
โค๏ธWas Iblis Misled?

Today we will choose one sister ย and she will choose one ayah of Juz 14 for all of us to contemplate together.ย
A sister chose this ayah from Surat Al Hijr:

15:39 Surat Al Hijr
(Satan responded, โ€œMy Lord! For allowing me to stray I will surely tempt them on earth and mislead them all togetherโ€)

*1. The tafseer of the Ayah*:
Before contemplating any verse, we always look at the *tafseer* of the verse.
Iblis said to the Lord:
(Because You misled me,) i.e., because You misled me and misguided me.

(I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them) meaning, for the progeny of Adam (AS).

(on the earth,) meaning - I will make sin dear to them, and will encourage, provoke and harass them to commit sin.

(and I shall mislead them all.) meaning - just as You have misled me and have ordained that for me.
ย
*2. The General meaning of the verse*:
This verse is about Iblisโ€™ threat to mislead Mankind, and Allah's Promise of Hell for him. Why does Allah allow him to do that? This is one of the tests for mankind.ย
ย
*3. Check your Understanding:*
Did you understand the verse after reading the tafseer? We still donโ€™t understand ุจูู…ูŽุข ุฃูŽุบู’ูˆูŽูŠู’ุชูŽู†ูู‰ why Iblis said that Allah misguided him?
ย
If we look at the Qurโ€™an , every verse that mentions Guidance or Misguidance, there is an action mentioned that caused this.ย

In the previous verses, we see that Allah(S) commanded Iblis to prostrate to Adam but he refused. Iblis was arrogant and chose to disobey Allahโ€™s command. He said: how can I make sujood to someone who was made from clay and I am made from fire! That shows how Iblis was very disrespectful to Allah (S) who created him.
ย
So what we see here in these verses, is that Iblis chose to disobey and that caused him to go astray, but he was blaming Allah and saying that Allah misguided him, which is not the truth. And we see this often that when someone gets in difficult situations, they always blame others for their problems.ย
ย
